Who is the "Mama" of Mama Llama Doula Care?

Mama@MamaLlamaDoula.CARE

Hi, I’m Andria Foydl, Mama Llama Postpartum Doula, Breastfeeding Counselor, and Sleep Consultant. You are probably wondering who I am and why I could be a loving, professional support person for you or someone you know.

It All Started Here

My journey into birth, postpartum and lactation work began with a deep recognition that families deserve to be supported—not just during birth, but in the often overwhelming days, weeks and months that follow. Over time, I found myself even more deeply drawn to the postpartum period—where healing, identity shifts, baby feeding, sleep, and emotional wellbeing all intersect. More than a decade ago, my friend Terry invited me over to help her breastfeed her very upset, hungry 2-day old newborn. I felt her anxiety, panic and urgency for help. At the same time, we didn’t know about what support was available or where to find it or if it even existed. My online research started with, “How to help a friend with breastfeeding”. And, that’s when I first heard the word, “doula”. Ever since then, I have become a deeply passionate, certified birth and postpartum doula; Terry became a Labor & Delivery Nurse. I finally knew supporting women and families through the postpartum period, especially feeding babies, was where my heart belonged.
My Philosophy
You don’t have to perform, prove anything, or have it all figured out in my presence. You get to be exactly where you are—and I will meet you there with steady support, without judgment. When I am in your home or across a screen via my tele-health services, you’ll know I am there to help because of the way you’ll feel and heal. Some of the ways I support families include: • Responsive newborn care • Lactation and feeding guidance (breastfeeding, bottle feeding, combination feeding) • Gentle, developmentally appropriate sleep shaping for babies • Emotional reassurance and normalization of the postpartum experience • Creating rhythms that support both baby and parents • Holding space for the emotional and mental transitions of early parenthood

My Promise

You can count on me. Families often describe my support style as calming, grounding, nurturing, and deeply intuitive. When I enter a space—especially overnight—I bring a quiet, steady presence that allows families to truly rest, while knowing their baby is being cared for with attentiveness and respect. I do this work because I believe the postpartum period is not meant to be navigated alone.
Mothers and families deserve to feel held, informed, rested, and supported—not questioned, dismissed, or left to figure everything out on their own. My work is rooted in protecting rest, supporting feeding without pressure, and helping families find a rhythm that honors both baby’s development and the family’s wellbeing. Being invited into such an intimate and powerful moment in a family’s life is something I never ever take for granted.

I'm just me.

I live in the Sacramento area and have five adult children and two grandsons scattered across three states!
As an empty nesting, self-employed woman, I love quiet mornings, meaningful conversations, and creating spaces where people feel at ease and cared for. I really love people. I’m so curious about the paths people have walked before intersecting with mine. I love to listen and share life experiences.
I’m a little bit quiet and a little bit loud. It all depends on the setting. I am funny, I think, and I enjoy gentle sarcasm. I love evenings out with friends cheering and chair dancing at local ball games - River Cats, Athletics, Sac Republic, Kings, etc.
